Wicker trail

The commune of Miedzichowo is the cradle of the wicker industry in Poland, namely American wicker, which was brought to the town of Trzciel in 1885. This variety of industrial wicker was very well received, first in Greater Poland, and then throughout the country. In the Miedzichowo commune, plaiting and wickerwork is also doing well today, and on a national and European scale, this industry is beginning to recover after years of disfavor. Wicker products are ecological and biodegradable, which is the reason for their growing popularity again.

In order to preserve the memory of this heritage, a Wicker Trail was created in the commune – following it on foot or by bike, you can encounter five important points on the map of the wicker industry: from planting willow plantations, through the production of furniture or other wicker items, to their sale. .

The maps of the trail are available, among others at the Miedzichowo Commune Office or on its website. Along the way, there are a dozen or so points leading in the right direction, and there are information boards next to a given enterprise related to the wicker industry. Following the Wicker Trail can be a good opportunity to buy decorative souvenirs made of this material, which is the pride and showcase of the region.

The trail runs through towns such as Bolewice, Bolewicko, Miedzichowo and Trzciel Odbudowa, which are located between 5 and 15 km from the WENA agritourism.
