Museum of Wicker and Hops

It is no accident that the Wicker and Hops Museum is located in the center of a region with rich traditions related to this industry – in Nowy Tomyśl. For centuries, the inhabitants of Greater Poland earned their living from growing hops and producing wicker products, so in 1985 it was decided to create a museum to preserve the memory of this industry. Vacationers of agritourism WENA from this place are only a dozen minutes by car.

The museum is housed in two premises – the main one in a building dating back to the end of the 18th century, and the other in a barn, where there is a hop and wicker storehouse in the attic. What can visitors count on? First of all, to see exhibits from prehistoric times related to the cultivation and processing of wicker, tools necessary for this, but also unique braiding products intended for both utility and artistic purposes. The part of the exhibition related to hops shows the varieties and methods of its cultivation as well as the importance in brewing.

In addition, the museum presents special, thematic exhibitions, organizes handicraft workshops, museum lessons, shows, and especially in summer, interesting events, such as competitions or fairs.

The Wicker and Hop Hops Museum is worth a visit, especially nowadays, when craft professions are dying out and children, adolescents and even adults are losing their memory of the basic skills and professions that were once part of social life and have developed a multitude of necessary tools and home furnishings of great quality.

You should follow the museum's website on an ongoing basis, because depending on the season, holidays or other occasions, visiting hours may change.
